Student Technology Use Agreement

1. Acceptable Use: Students shall use Antelope View Charter School ("AVCS") technology, including but not limited to computers, email, and Internet service, only for school-related purposes. Use of AVCS technology for personal, commercial or political activities is strictly prohibited.

2. Prohibited Use: Students shall not use AVCS technology to condone, support, advocate, promote, or engage in any activities prohibited by law, or AVCS policy or regulations. Students shall not transmit or receive material that is protected by trade secret, or that is offensive, rude, abusive, threatening, obscene, sexually explicit, or which harasses or disparages others based upon their race, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or political beliefs.

3. Privilege: Use of AVCS technology is a privilege, and any use in violation of this Agreement or other AVCS policy or regulation may result in loss of that privilege.

4. Privacy: AVCS reserves the right to monitor the use of AVCS technology for violations of AVCS rules and regulations. Accordingly, students shall have no expectation of privacy with respect to any use of AVCS technology.

5. Copyrighted Materials: Copyrighted materials may not be input into AVCS technology without the author's permission. Students may receive (i.e., download) copyrighted materials only in accordance with copyright laws.

6. Vandalism: Students shall not engage in technology vandalism. Vandalism is any knowing or willful use of AVCS technology which may foreseeable result in harm of any kind whatsoever to hardware, software, or data files. Vandalism includes, but is not limited to, creating, uploading, or downloading computer viruses.

7. Rules of Behavior: Students shall abide by generally accepted standards of appropriate public behavior including, but not limited to, the following:

• a. They will be courteous at all times.
• b. They will use appropriate language and symbols (profanity is prohibited).
• c. They will not participate in "Cyber Bullying," such as personal attacks and/or threats on/against anyone.
• d. They will not attempt to discover (hack or crack) passwords or to control access to the Internet or the AVCS computer network.
• e. They will not use technology in any way that is likely to interfere with its use by others.
• f. They will refrain from reading, deleting, copying, modifying, forging, or retranslating other users' mail or data files, except as authorized.
• g. They will not reveal personal addresses, phone numbers, or other identifying information of others.
• h. They will promptly report any security problem, misuse of technology, or any violation of the rules and regulations to school personnel.

Acknowledgment: We have carefully read and understand the above conditions governing use of AVCS technology and agree to abide by them. We further understand that any violation of these conditions may result in loss of technology use privileges and/or disciplinary action up to and including expulsion.
